Impacted by the organization of the world congress of nephrology in Cape Town in 2015, the African Association of Nephrology AFRAN, has matured and the congress organized jointly with AFPNA in 2017 in Yaoundé gave birth to another face of AFRAN congress with the support of international nephrological societies and the organization of the KDIGO meeting on HIVAN.

AFRAN invites you to meet in 2021December 8-10th, in the post-COVID era, to welcome you to Abidjan, the land of elephants, capital of Côte d'Ivoire, a country whose economic progress and advances in medicine rank it as a leader in West Africa. Abidjan opens its arms to you for an unforgettable African nephrology meeting with the support and participation of ISN, IPNA, SFNDT, ERA-EDTA, ISPD, ISHD, KDIGO, and the ongoing discussions for the contribution of the WHO.

we hope to validate the organization of a half day round table on a reflection on the strategic axes to be developed in Africa to prevent and manage kidney disease. Abidjan 2021 is the unmissable meeting of African nephrology between the hospitality and kindness of Ivorian hosts and its scientific program encompassing clinical nephrology, pediatric nephrology, mineral and water disorders, epidemiology, arterial hypertension, diabetic kidney disease, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation.

The Ivorian Society of Nephrology (S.I.NEPH) is organizing the 16th AFRAN / AFPNA congress and its 5th national congress from December 8 to 10, 2021 in Abidjan.

The S.I.NEPH is a young association created in 2008, which aims to promote nephrology in Côte d'Ivoire through training and research. It has 35 nephrologists and around 20 nephrologists in training.

AFRAN / AFPNA congresses are organized every 2 years in different African countries. The last congress was held in Mombasa, Kenya in 2019. These scientific meetings bring together in the same place several nephrologists and health professionals from Africa, to update their knowledge on various aspects of kidney disease in order to '' improve the quality of care for patients with renal failure.

The main theme of the congress this year is “Advocacy for the management of kidney disease in Africa” and several sub-themes will be discussed. On the sidelines of the congress, there will be training for general practitioners and a pre-conference on renal pathology, pediatric nephrology, clinical research, training for nurses, etc. The full program can be viewed on the congress website.

The target audience for this congress includes Nephrologists, Nephrologists in training, Pediatricians, Pathologists, General practitioners, Nurses in nephrology and dialysis, Biomedical technicians.

This 16th AFRAN / AFPNA Congress has the support of the following international organizations ISN, ERA / EDTA, IPNA, ISPD, ISHD, SFNDT and KDIGO.

The venue of the congress is the RADISSON BLU - Abidjan hotel located 1 km from Félix Houphouët - Boigny international airport. It has facilities which present all the conveniences in terms of organizing scientific meetings and accommodation. It will be the main accommodation for speakers and official guests. Participants who wish can also stay there. The price of the rooms is 110,000 CFA francs per night.

Other hotels are available with prices ranging from 40,000 F CFA to 75,000 F CFA per night:

  • - The ONOMO hotel about 500 m in front of the RADISSON hotel,
  • - The hotel LA NOUVELLE PERGOLA 15 minutes from the airport,
  • - The FREEMAN hotel 15 minutes from the airport,
  • - The IBIS hotel 20 minutes from the airport.

Registration for the congress can be done online by filling out a form. Participants are requested to familiarize themselves with the registration procedures available on the congress website Registration will only be validated after receipt of the total amount by the organizers.

The payment methods are also presented on the congress website. Whatever method the participant chooses, they are requested to contact the persons designated by the organizers to pay for their registration. A payment confirmation will be sent to the participant with a receipt by email.

For participants who register with proof, the proof must be presented to the secretariat in order to receive the badge and congress documents under penalty of paying the difference. Communications are oral or posted, in English or French. The abstracts should be sent to

The abstracts of the communications will be compiled in a book « The book of abstracts » in digital version available on USB keys and distributed to the participants.

Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory.

Pharmaceutical companies and other partners will have an exhibition space at the congress venue with stands to present their products. The partnership proposals can be viewed on the congress website. Laboratories are invited to get in touch with the organizers after their choices, then they will pay by check or by bank transfer. Stand spaces will be allocated to laboratories and other partners in order of arrival. Finally, the floor plan will be available on the congress site, with the position of all the stands in the exhibition area and the recommendations to exhibitors.
